“Safe Kids Week – Walk and Talk Parade”

The Wee Watch children in Peterborough had so much fun preparing for and participating in this parade.  The children loved making stop signs to show them off in their neighbourhood.

As you can see by their smiles they loved being part of the community!!! It was a great opportunity for them to meet the crossing guard and realize the importance of her job.  It was also terrific for the crossing guard to feel that the children see her as a valued member of their community.

They also enjoyed their walk by participating in math and science activities:  they counted stop signs, cars, trucks, other children as well as identifying different shapes, sizes and colors.

It was a great opportunity for teaching road and community safety while having fun and a purpose in developing their motor skills.
