Exercise The Senses: July 9 – 13, 2012

July may have been too hot to spend hours exercising and working those gross motor muscles but not so hot to participate in our Together Wee Can – EXERCISE THE SENSES!  From Wee Beginners to Wee Mentors, all children learn much about the world around them by using their senses.

Wee Watch Providers in Markham planned sensory experiences that included plenty of indoor and outdoor dancing to music  and a sensory walk.  The sensory walk was a great opportunity to listen to birds, cars, and people, smell the neighbour’s flowers, feel the texture of house bricks, bark from trees, feeling the wet grass after some sprinkler fun and even seeing a rainbow appear through the mist of the sprinkler.  Children capped off their sensory walk returning back home for cool tasty fruit freezies.

Checklists and charts were made of the “exercises” and follow up activities included paper animals and popsicle stick airplanes.
